Fr. Jack Morris, SJ, is the founder of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. He helped the organization take form from the early days in Copper Valley, Alaska.
Please keep him in your prayers. He's been in the hospital and is returning home to his community, where he'll be receiving hospice care. He's comfortable, not in any pain, but he's failing and no more treatments will be given. Because Fr. Morris is very weak, no visitors, cards, or phone calls are requested at this time.
As we think about his life and the impact he's had on our organization and the millions of people he's affected through his work, we offer this prayer, which he wrote for his ordination.
God Bless the World
Mighty God, Father of all,
Compassionate God, Mother of all,
bless every person I have met,
every face I have seen,
every voice I have heard,
especially those most dear;
bless every city, town, and
street that I have known,
bless every sight I have seen,
every sound I have heard,
every object I have touched.
In some mysterious way these
have all fashioned my life;
all that I am,
I have received.
Great God, bless the world.
